Back to School Dinner 2017
Our sweet Honey was aging and getting slower and slower each day. But my original plan for our 2017 family school year theme did not involve Honey the dog. It involved Beehives, little bee soaps, a glass window hanger of a beehive, a bumble bee table runner. Around the same time I had ordered 4 look a like stuffed honeys to give the girls for Christmas. Although when I was setting up the table and thinking about how I could explain the year’s new theme all I could think about what Honey the dog. She was the sweetest thing in our home; she made everyone feel better with their cuddles when they were sad, they would go find her and pet her when they were mad, she was a place for peace in a very emotion high house. So when I thought about who could be a perfect example of being kind through our words to each other as a family, it was Honey. So I switched the dinner theme around a bit and wrapped up the stuffed dogs in a flash to celebrate our dinner.
When they opened their gifts of a Honey to cuddle forever it was really sweet. Everyone knew why they were getting that right now and loved on Honey like the Queen Bee she is. This dog has been their second mama and best friends since day one home from the hospital. We sure to love this dog.
We ate the same meal we have been eating for this dinner since Abby’s first day of Kindergarten. Berries & cream, alfredo with prosciutto, roasted Brussel spouts, homemade bread, punch and a fancy cake.
