Becoming a GREAT Mother
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and we all gather for a bi-annual world conference as a church in April and October, where we listen to instruction from our Church leaders in five four hour sessions. (They televise it and you can also go in person.)
The beautiful messages they give carry me for months. They teach me how to be a better mother and a daughter of God. There are two talks in particular that I think about weekly. These give me the strength I need to be strong. And as a mother, I need it. I love being a mother but I need strength to be a GREAT mother.
The first talk is by Elder David A. Bednar where he spoke about being More Diligent and Concerned at Home. You can read the entire talk here. These are the parts I re-read throughout the weeks, months and (I know one day) years. This is what helps me remember why I am here.
Express Love & Show It
Bear Testimony & Live It
Be Consistent
He says, “As we seek the Lord’s help and in His strength, we can gradually reduce the disparity between what we say and what we do, between expressing love and consistently showing it, and between bearing testimony and steadfastly living it. We can become more diligent and concerned at home as we are more faithful in learning, living, and loving the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.”
The second talk, Women Who Know, is by Julie B. Beck who spoke these strong words so beautifully. Her words keep me focused on what I am striving for. You can read the whole talk here.
