Day 4: Azores Sao Miguel

December 31st, 2018 in Our Travels Worldwide

Honestly this trip was so long ago (July 2017) that I might have all my days out of order. I have been following my pictures on my phone, their order, because I cannot find our old itinerary. I believe this is the day where we attended church. It was a branch where they took pictures of the girls and I once again realized that strong members work the hardest over seas. You can tell the same poor guy or gal who is passing the sacrament is also the branch president and also his wife is the RS president and also they are the ones speaking. I want to be the one running around bringing them snacks and water as they work so hard when I am there visiting.

Adventure to Meet the Breeder

After church we went to go meet a breeder of the Fila Sao Miguel breed and it led us on the most gorgeous drive and epic meal. I don’t like the word epic or use it, so that should tell you something.

These flower bushes were one of my favorite parts of the country, the whole place seems like a greenhouse planned by an expertise florist.

BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE, THE ONE TIME I WILL USE THE WORD EPIC

We stopped at a family restaurant that served one meal and I think about this meal WEEKLY. Honest to goodness I do, the fish star soup as a starter and then the hearty fish stew with bread is by far the best meal I have ever had. And I’ve had some good meals.

Whenever we see soup that remotely reminds us of these soups the girls recall how it tasted and remembers the Azores. Another thing they are famous for are these little cheese type cakes. Not my thing but cool to  try.

Puppies

Finally we found the breeder and it was a hysterical situation. His dogs were out of control, filthy, he was so drunk and hilarious to listen to. We quickly decided we wouldn’t be working with this breeder but didn’t mind too much because he lead us on a little journey to our beautiful drive and lunch.

P.S. We did finally find a breeder we wanted to work with and brought home this little fella. He was such a sweet dog and got placed with a wonderful family through our company. Peanut Butter lived with us for about a year and we all have a special place in our hearts for him.
