Monday: Weekly Family Activity—Crafting for Service

November 24th, 2008 in Monday: Weekly Family Activity, Crafts

Crafting as a family and sending your treasures off to those who really need them would be the perfect family activity this week. It would give your family such a jump start on what the holidays are really about.

Here are just a few of the projects going on that I know about:

1. SouleMama has a great project going on right now for Caps to Cap-Haitien and just added receiving blankets to the project, you can learn more about that at Mama to Mama or by clicking on the graphic below.

2. If you don’t have a family that would necessarally enjoy crafting have them collect things of need from family members, friends, community members, etc. You can have your family collect books for Books for Africa or collect shoes for Green Eyes in Africa.

3. Find out what is going on around you locally. In Salt Lake City, the Unified Fire Authority is collecting coats and blankets for the homeless this holiday season.

Salt Lake County residents can drop off their donations at any area fire station. The items will go to the downtown St. Vincent de Paul Center and the overflow family shelter in Midvale.
