Costa Rica Trip 2018 Part 2

January 1st, 2020 in Our Travels Worldwide

After passing our old home we went to our secret spot, a jungle water hole. The water had all rerouted different ways so we went deeper in the jungle and found a beautiful spot to swim around. That was one of our favorite parts of living there, finding beautiful water to splash around in.

The drive to our favorite spot is rocky, bumpy, and full of cattle fields. It is bright green and feels like a movie set.

On the way back we got blocked off for a long time by someone doing some work with their tractor. So we made it to dinner late. It is this spot right on Playa Hermosa beach that at dusk is magical. They have little lights everywhere and you can hear the ocean. When I have to think of calming things I think of this spot and a little spot 30 minutes away as well.

Seems so silly that we also wanted to go where we used to do daily things. We went to our favorite grocery store that we would hit up when we were homesick, they actually had root beer and chocolate chips. As well as going to the farmer’s market for the sweet candy pineapple and freshly squeezed orange juice. There was still the Amish couple there that came with the most delicious molasses cookies.

Another reminder of our old home we wanted to have was our favorite cosada plate at our favorite local soda. It was there and exactly the same. I swear this is why Shae & Reagan ask for beans, rice, and corn each day for lunch. Their little bodies grew up on this stuff!

Esterillos has a special part of my heart forever; the mermaid, Caribbean restaurant, and tide pools. I don’t think we will be back to Costa Rica, there are so many other spots in the world I want to see. Perhaps when the kids are all adults and have children of their own we will want to go back. Esterillos is the first city I LIVED in outside the US and there is a special vibe in that little town.

We also tried to drink as many fresh smoothies as we could find, love their simple fresh smoothies out there.
