Last Day: Azores Sao Miguel
Nordeste–Farol do Arnel Lighthouse
We headed to the tippy top point of the island to Nordeste where there is the beautiful Farol do Arnel lighthouse.
It was a gorgeous city that had no tourism, just how people lived in this gorgeous land. Lucky people.
Parque Natural Ribeira Dos Caldeiroes
On the way back to the rental home we visited a national park where I got roped into walking into a water mill, being charged for crossing the threshold confused, havingĀ a cold cinnamon donut shoved in my hands and then being charged for that. It was a weird experience. But we did get to walk around in yet again another Garden of Eden.
P.S. Their food is MY food, fresh fish and lots of root vegetables. If there was a little chocolate bar to the side that kind of meal I could eat every day for the rest of my life.
Note: The one downside about going to the Azores is the airline that gets you there. If their flights don’t fill up they delay them; from a half a day to a full day. So you’ll be stuck at your connecting flight with no where to stay. It was stressful. Never have something booked or that you HAVE to be at for your first day of an Azores trip.
